Hickory Stripe denim has long been stitched into the fabric of American workwear—specifically the overalls and grease-stained chore coats of railway men. At Stan Ray, hickory stripe means years of wear, a process of ageing and fading that results in unique versions of the hickory patina.
Over time, these resulting fades and wear patterns gave us inspiration to run custom, colourful desaturated hickory tones, flipping the deep indigo and natural stripe into something more playful and colourful.
This reimagining maintains the grit but softens the edge, an aesthetic that complements KARHU’s Fusion XT because of its use of pastel tones on what is a robust functional cross trainer from the 90s era that was famous for its de-saturated pastel tones.
