KARHU X EDITH YOUNG:
A night of flower-arranging hosted by illustrator Edith Young and florist Molly Ford at Big Night on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. What ensued was a very joyful start to spring in the city.
Molly, the founder of floristry sensation Flowers by Ford, walked the group through how to process and arrange a spectacular assortment of spring flowers—geranium daffodils, peonies, pink roses, apricot tulips, calla lilies and more—with particular instruction on reflexing roses and tulips.
The crowd was a fun mix of vibrant New York creatives. Georgia Hilmer, an artist who often works with flowers in her practice, photographed the evening while in her green Mestaris.
For our friends in New York, Edith illustrated a limited edition tote bag and t-shirt with floral KARHU lettering and a smitten bear carrying bodega flowers home to his love, loosely inspired by her favorite New Yorker cover by William Steig.
The lettering of KARHU comes together with tulips, foxgloves, a daffodil, purple hibiscus often seen in Brooklyn's summer months, and a dahlia. Everyone walked home with bountiful flower arrangements in their arms and their totes.
