The Synchron Classic features a new compression molded EVA midsole which is current in most modern running shoes. The dual density construction remains true to the original version from the early 1990s. The upper materials have been improved to premium pigskin suede from synthetic overlays while the original mesh appearance remains true to the era. To modernize the silhouette, Karhu makes the Air Cushion technology both visible and functional in the outsole. Most importantly, Karhu keeps the unique Synchron lacing structure which served as a way to tighten the forefoot upon repeated use.
Throw it back to the early 80s and 90s when music was pure, fashion was funky and athletes were role models. It was during this era when the Karhu Athletic was first released. Designed for marathon runners logging high mileage, the Athletic became a popular model for its comfort and durability.
The ’84 colour way featured grey suedes, nylon meshes and hits of bright red to create a genuinely appealing classic. Digging through our archived catalogs and flashing forward 32 years, Karhu pays homage to the iconic Athletic colour way with a stylishly modernized version of the Synchron Classic.
The bright red (Scooter) nylon mesh, smooth pigskin suede, and dual density midsole creates an authentic look as part of the latest Karhu Legend collection. To complete the Synchron Classic Pack, Karhu releases a second colour way featuring a strong blue nylon mesh, pigskin suede and the traditional diagonal Synchron lacing system. Both colour ways highlight the Air Cushion design Karhu invented to increase cushioning in the heel.
